Peter van de Water is an Amsterdam based furniture and interior designer.
Typical for the furniture designs by Peter van de Water is their intelligent simplicity. A single strong idea is made into a recognizable, iconic design. Always looking for that one perfect solution to combine aesthetics, function & construction. He is inspired by minimalism art and design, structuralism, nature and science. For Peter, designs should be contemporary, but also have a timeless quality. With every new design, the goal is to design a design classic. There is no guarantee for a design, becoming a classic. But they should last for many years in production & construction, but also in appearance, making it a durable product. He sees sustainability as the biggest challenge and obligation for the furniture industrie. An other goal of Peter van de Water is to keep developing his skills, knowledge & style, keep learning. The thought that best is yet to come, keeps him highly motivated to do what he loves most. Making new designs. He loves making scale models, sketches, renderings and prototypes. All of this in his design studio in his beloved neighborhood Oud-west in Amsterdam, only one hundred meters from his home.
His furniture designs are produced by a growing number of furniture brands as Gispen, Cascando, Label vandenberg, New Duivendrecht, Odesi & TossB.
His designs have been exhibited, sold & published at the mayor furniture fairs,
venues and in magazines. To name a few, Salone Milano, Orgatec Cologne, Imm Cologne, Interieur Kortrijk, MoMa design store in NY & Tokyo, DDW Eindhoven, Wallpaper magazine, Frame and Damn magazine.
